Abstract Cityscape
Project Overview
Abstract Cityscape reinterprets the urban environment through fragmented forms, bold color, and rhythmic composition. Rather than documenting a specific location, the work captures the sensation of the city—its movement, density, and constant transformation. Buildings, streets, and figures dissolve into layered gestures, reflecting the pulse of contemporary urban life.
Concept & Inspiration
This painting explores the city as an experience rather than a place. Familiar architectural elements are reduced to shapes and lines, allowing energy and atmosphere to take precedence over precision. Overlapping structures suggest growth, congestion, and motion—where multiple moments coexist within a single frame.
The abstraction mirrors how cities are remembered: incomplete, fast-moving, and emotionally charged.
Visual Language
The composition is built through intersecting planes and directional movement.
Layered blocks of color create depth and spatial tension
Repeating verticals and diagonals echo architectural rhythm
High-contrast hues amplify movement and visual noise
The surface remains active, guiding the eye across multiple focal points without settling in one place.
Medium & Technique
Medium: Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
Style: Abstract urban expressionism
Technique: Layering, collage-like construction, gestural brushwork, and selective erasure
The process builds density while preserving moments of openness and pause.
Ideal Display
Well suited for contemporary interiors, creative studios, and modern gallery spaces. The work benefits from scale and distance, allowing its layered energy to fully unfold.
